Splish-Splash

Some of the most-fun layouts to create are water-themed. Whether you’re scrapbooking bath-time photos of your children, pool parties or a trip to the beach the possibilities seem endless. The problem you might run across is how to get the finished look that you really want.

The purpose of this article is to point out a few techniques and products available to help you achieve your goal.

First let me start by naming off some of the most popular tools of the trade for water-themed success. Splat punches, wave blades, rubber stamps and colored luster rub ons to name a few.

There are also digital elements that are available to help you create the perfect water theme.

Splat punches are great because they create wonderful little shapes that look like splashes of water.

These make for a fun look in your layout. Wave blades are great for adding a wavy edge to your paper and photos that really enhance the theme. The colored luster rub ons can be used to create a wet look on different elements of your layout, such as the splats mentioned earlier.

Probably the most versatile of the tools I’ve mentioned is the rubber stamp. Not only can it be used with ink, but you can also use the rubber stamps in bleach to create a watery look.

To do this you’ll need household bleach, white paper towel or white cloth, a plate or good-sized bowl and solid-colored cardstock, no white back or core. Soak the paper towel or cloth with bleach creating your own stamp pad.

Then dab the stamp onto your stamp pad and press onto the paper to create the watery effect for your theme.

As you can see, there are many tools and tricks that you can use to create wonderful water themes for you scrapbooks. And with a little research you’re sure to find more.

Experiment with them, find what you like and works well for you and have fun!
